AVA Seeds Pvt. Ltd.
Avesthagen has also established 'AVA SEEDS PVT. LTD.' as a vehicle to deliver the latest Agbiotechnology technologies developed within Avesthagen dealing with Vegetable productivity and production. The forefront technologies developed by Avesthagen and desperately required in India and the developing world are: High Lycopene Tomatoes, andMarker Assisted Breeding for quantity and quality enhancement in Vegetable crops ; whereas the developed world would benefit greatly from NutritionFITTM technology for oilseed crops.
As a strategic delivery model, Ava acquired an integrated Vegetable seed company, Ceekay Seeds and Seedlings Pvt Ltd seeds, with a porfolio of Key Vegetable crops i.e, Tomatoes, Eggplant, Chillies, Okra, and Melons. The company is considering acquiring another Vegatable Seed company seed company in India, which complements the Ceekay crop portfolio with Brassicas i.e, Cabbage and cauliflower. Ava would become a platform for building a leading, technology-led, vegetable seed company with a vision of "Seeding Prosperity". Ava business would be a profitable enterprise by 2008-09, and would rapidly grow to become a key player in the USD500Mn vegetable seed segment of the 1bn Indian Seed Industry.
Atash and Ava would also serve as the technical base to further develop technologies for licensing for global applications. With a First right of refusal to our R&D collaborator Groupe Limagrain to license in Avesthagen technologies, contacts will be established with global Seed majors viz. Syngenta, BayerCropscience, Dupont Pioneer, DowAgriscience, KWS, Pennar, Heritage with a view to ensure that the technologies reach the ultimate customer – the "global farmer" in five continents of the globe through the USD30 bn global seed Industry.
