Infrastructure groans

While I appreciate the budgetary allocations for biotech, science and technology, it has to be said that not enough thought has been given for infrastructure, I have always liked the idea of an elevated rail system, but they are keen on Metro Rail instead. That's their decision, but it can make things difficult for citizens.

It is a good idea to develop industrial clusters in Shimoga, Mangalore and other districts. That's the way to ensure development of other regions. Steps like allocation of Rs.5 crore for adoption of Israeli technology in horticulture plantations in backward taluks are welcome. Same is the case with increased allocation for agricultural research. It is great that a high-tech city is coming up near the Hosur-Sarjapur Road.

It is such centres that will drive growth. Personally, I am pleased by the allocation of 6.5 crore for establishing a biotech park and science centres at a cost of Rs.10 crore.
