In October, Avestha Gengraine Technologies, Bangalore Agrobiotechnology Company, set up a subsidiary, Avgen, in San Diego, In India, Avestha Gengraine specializes in contract genomic-analysis services for plant engineering. Avgen will specialize in discovering and developing plant-based bioactive compounds.
"Avgen will validate and market compounds from botanical to pharmaceutical and neutraceutical companies," says Victor Moreno, Ph.D., head of the San Diego office. the bioactive compounds will be screened as treatments for obesity and diabetes.
