Biocon and Avestha Gengraine are planning to enter the IPO fray in 2004. Biocon's IPO is likely to debut by March and Avestha Gengraine too has given hints towards an IPO towards the end of the year. The success of these IPOs would largely determine the course of the Indian biotech industry, which is readying for global compettition.

Karnataka's biotech park is finally set to take off. The project has been struggling to get going this far, but the government can pull it off in the first half of this year if they put in a sustained effort.
